In conjunction with NHL Recycle the Game initiative as part of NHL Green™ Week, the Red Wings will host a collection drive outside The Joe on the street level of the Joe Louis Arena People Mover Station (600 Civic Center Dr.) for fans to donate new or gently-used hockey equipment. Donated equipment will benefit youth hockey programs at Jack Adams Memorial Arena in Detroit.
A regulation-sized hockey net featuring green goal posts, courtesy of the NHL, will serve as the drop-box for hockey gear at the Joe Louis Arena People Mover Station.
Hockey equipment being accepted includes helmets, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey pants, shin pads, gloves, skates and sticks, in addition to goalie leg pads, blockers and gloves.
Additionally, in-game elements during Saturday's game against the Avalanche will highlight NHL Green™ Week initiatives and encourage fans to get involved and improve their environmental footprint.
