Howie Rose Rangers sweater

Before Howie Rose officially puts it in the books, he’s making his back way to Madison Square Garden.

The legendary broadcaster, who announced before the MLB season that this year would be his last year in the booth, was honored by the New York Rangers during Saturday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.

Rose received a congratulatory message from the team as well as a customized Rangers sweater. The jersey included a “Rose” nameplate and the No. 94, a possible nod to Rose’s stint as the Rangers radio announcer during the 1994 Stanley Cup season.

He delivered the iconic call of Stephane Matteau’s game-winning goal in double overtime of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New Jersey Devils.

Rose has been calling New York Mets games since 1995.
