His Wild teammates were unaware of their goalie’s latest prank, so Fleury skated by their bench and said, “Come on boys, let’s get it going.”
Fleury said Wednesday he was "just looking for things to do and I got a little bit of a dare I guess."
He said he found the wig and mustache in the basement of his home, and figured that might be enough for him to go incognito
"Thought I would hide my face a bit," he said. "I thought I could go unnoticed but I don’t know, something leaked so the camera found me too."
The 39-year-old, entering his 21st NHL season, is second in League history with 561 wins (Martin Brodeur is the all-time leader with 691) and fourth among goalies with 1,025 games played.
In an intermission interview with local Minneapolis radio station KFAN, Fleury said he tried to skate by the bench quickly to not attract too much attention, namely from head coach John Hynes.
"I went by, yelled at them a bit, but I didn’t want to laugh or smile too much," he said. Just kind of kept doing my job. I had snow to pick up, so ..."
Not even a night off could stop Fleury from having a wild time on the ice.
