Marchand tribute video

On Saturday, the Boston Bruins said goodbye to their captain.

The team posted a tribute video on social media for Brad Marchand after the forward was traded to the Florida Panthers at Friday’s deadline.

The roughly two-minute-long video went through some highlights of his 16 years with the team, including his first NHL goal, his first NHL hat trick, and some of his lighthearted, memorable and heartwarming off-the-ice moments.

The video ended with a clip of Marchand holding up the Stanley Cup, which he won with the Bruins in 2011.

Marchand was drafted by the Bruins at the 2006 NHL Draft and has spent his entire career thus far with Boston. He was in his second season as captain of the Bruins.

He is fourth in games (1,090) and goals (422), fifth in points (976) and sixth in assists (554) in Bruins history.

He’s in his final season of his eight-year contract and can become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Marchand is currently injured, but Florida visits Boston on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; SCRIPPS, NESN, SN, TVAS).
