Caufield dad reaction 50 goals

No one was more thrilled to see Cole Caufield become a 50-goal scorer than his dad.

The Montreal Canadiens forward’s father, Paul, had a heartwarming reaction after Caufield scored his 50th goal of the season on Thursday.

Caufield notched the milestone goal in the second period against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Bell Centre to give the Canadiens a 1-0 lead.

Cameras showed Caufield’s dad wipe away tears from his eyes after his son accomplished the career achievement.

Caufield is the first Canadiens player to score 50 goals in 36 years and the seventh player in franchise history.

His 50 goals are ranked second in the NHL this season, two behind Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon who has 52 goals.

Canadiens fans, including his dad, gave Caufield a standing ovation after he was announced as the first star of the game.

“That’s special,” Caufield said of his dad’s reaction after the game. “I mean, you can’t write it any better than that. I think that was truly a moment my dad and I will never forget.”
