MON. DEC. 23

Potential win: Minnesota Wild (vs. CHI)

The Wild have lost four straight games in regulation but have bounce-back potential against the Chicago Blackhawks in the final game before the NHL's holiday break. Although goalie Filip Gustavsson (lower body) has been dealing with injury, the Wild have two other reliable goalie options in veteran Marc-Andre Fleury and rookie Jesper Wallstedt and rank sixth in the NHL in goals allowed per game (2.68) as a team this season. The Chicago Blackhawks have shown improvement under new coach Anders Sorensen (4-4-0 since Dec. 7) but are still averaging the fourth-fewest goals per game (2.56) this season. -- Pete Jensen

Chance at fewest goals allowed: Vegas Golden Knights (vs. ANA)

The Vegas Golden Knights have won three straight games, six of their past seven (6-1-0) and 11 of their past 14 (11-2-1) for the best record in the NHL since Nov. 21. After a slow start to the season, goalie Adin Hill ranks among the top two among those with at least 10 appearances in save percentage (.923; tied for second) and goals-against-average (2.08; second) since Nov. 13. Per NHL EDGE stats, Hill is above the League average in high-danger save percentage (.812; NHL average: .805) and long-range save percentage (.984; average: .971). The Ducks have scored 2.47 goals per game this season, the third-lowest average in the League and will be on the second of back-to-back games after playing at the Utah Hockey Club on Sunday. -- Troy Perlowitz

Chance at most saves: New York Rangers (at NJD)

The New York Rangers have allowed the third-most shots on goal per game (31.9) in the League this season and second most over the past month (since Nov. 23). Over that same span, the New Jersey Devils lead the League in shots per game (31.6) and have the fifth most this season (30.4). The Rangers allowed 30 shots on Sunday for the third-straight game and have allowed at least 30 SOG in five of their past seven games. Jonathan Quick has started eight games this season and has made at least 29 saves in four of them. Per NHL EDGE stats, the Devils lead the League high-danger shots on goal (325) and are tied with the Edmonton Oilers for the most SOG overall (1,094). -- Chris Meaney
