Red Wings send 10 to Grand Rapids

Roster reduced to 26 players with regular-season opener set for Saturday

DETROIT -The Detroit Red Wings today assigned forwards Turner Elson, Matt Puempel, Michael Rasmussen and Dominic Turgeon; defensemen Joe Hicketts, Brian Lashoff, Dylan McIlrath and Moritz Seider; and goaltenders Filip Larsson and Calvin Pickard to the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins.

After finishing preseason play on Saturday in Toronto with a 3-3-3 record, the Red Wings' roster currently stands at 26 players: 15 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders. Detroit will begin their 2019-20 regular-season schedule with back-to-back games on Saturday, Oct. 5 against the Nashville Predators prior to its home opener on Sunday, Oct. 6 versus the Dallas Stars.
