DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings are teaming up with youth from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan Fashion & Merchandising Industry Club to kick off February's celebration of Black History Month. Club members' designs commemorating Black History and hockey will be featured throughout February, including during games at Little Caesars Arena and on the team's digital platforms.
Several members of the BGCSM Fashion & Merchandising Industry Club submitted designs to be featured throughout February that illustrate the history of Black players in the Red Wings organization, in addition to social justice messages, the African-American Flag and Black History in the city of Detroit.

One of the designs will appear on a T-shirt that is currently for sale at
DetroitRedWings.com/Equality for $30
, with proceeds benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan and the Detroit Red Wings Foundation. The front of the shirt features a silhouette with red lettering representing the name of every Black player that has been drafted, signed, or played for the Red Wings throughout their history. The back features the NHL's Hockey is for Everyone logo.
Additional designs among members of the Fashion & Merchandising Industry Club will be featured on Twitter

for upcoming #WallpaperWednesday distributions during Black History Month.
"As we continue to bolster our Hockey is for Everyone platform each season, the Red Wings are honored to engage in a deeply impactful approach to commemorating Black History Month this year," said Kevin Brown, Director of Community Impact, Ilitch Sports + Entertainment.
