DETROIT -- When the final horn sounded after the Detroit Red Wings' 3-0 shutout win over the New York Islanders on Saturday afternoon, a celebratory chant, "Huuusss," echoed throughout Little Caesars Arena.

The cheering was for Ville Husso, who made 24 saves to record his second shutout of the season and the fifth of his NHL career, helping Detroit improve to 6-3-2 overall (14 points) and 5-1-1 at home this season.
"It was a good game for us," said Husso, who became the eigth goalie to win at least five of his first seven appearances with the Winged Wheel. "The guys did a really good job today. It made my night easy again. At the end, I just tried to keep my focus on the game and not let in any goals."
After a scoreless opening frame, Lucas Raymond and Pius Suter scored back-to-back special-teams goals to give the Red Wings a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes. Dominik Kubalik's third-period goal put the game away for good, snapping the Islanders' five-game winning streak.
"Good focus from our group," head coach Derek Lalonde said. "We've had trouble stringing some of these games together and we certainly did that today."
The Red Wings celebrated the 1998 championship team before dropping the puck against the Isles,
ending their 25th Anniversary Celebration
with a heartfelt speech from current executive vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman, who spent his entire 22-year NHL career and won three Stanley Cups with the franchise.
Ben Chiarot played in his 500th career NHL game on Saturday, while Filip Zadina exited in the third period after taking a shot to the right leg and did not return.
NEXT UP: Detroit will complete a weekend back-to-back on Sunday evening against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

QUOTABLE

Lalonde on Raymond's physicality against the Isles
"That's them (Islanders). That's a strong, heavy team. That's a little bit of their identity. If you're going to back down, you're in for a long night. It's today's NHL. You don't have to fight, but you do have to stand up for yourself. I thought, for the most part, our guys did that."
Raymond on Detroit's recent power-play performances
"It's getting better, for sure. I feel we have a lot of looks on every power play. It was good, so we just gotta try to keep building."
Lalonde on Husso's 24-save afternoon
"He's just calm in net. A couple big saves, but the easy saves pile up. Just a calming effect for our entire team. I really liked our entire game."
Lalonde on Zadina's lower-body injury
"I don't think we're gonna see him for a while. I don't have the complete word, but I got the 'not good.' We'll know more tomorrow."
