Preview: Red Wings host Philadelphia at Noon on Saturday

In an early puck drop from Little Caesars Arena, the Detroit Red Wings will host the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon beginning at Noon. The Red Wings will be seeking their second win over Philly in the past five days after earning a 6-3 victory at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday.
Saturday's broadcast coverage will air on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network. Later that evening, Michigan and Michigan State will face off in the "Duel in the D" at 7 p.m.

Wednesday's win was Detroit's first at Philadelphia since Jan. 25, 1997. Dylan Larkin opened the game's scoring - and his second half of the season - with a power-play goal. Detroit's power play has been vastly improved as of late, but it can still take another step to climb out of the bottom-third in the NHL in power-play percentage (16.5).

"For the unit, we look like we have more confidence," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. "We're strong on the puck. We're taking what's given. We're winning puck battles back. We're doing lots of really good things. I would say that's probably been the biggest thing."

The Flyers answered three of Detroit's goals by scoring one of their own just seconds later on Wednesday.
Interim coach Mike Yeo will need to fill a large offensive hole after Philadelphia announced veteran Sean Couturier underwent back surgery on Friday and will miss the remainder of the season. The Flyers are 3-11-3 without the center, who signed an eight-year contract extension during the offseason.
Carter Hart is expected to start in goal for the second straight game. On Wednesday, Detroit snapped his streak of seven straight starts with three goals or less allowed. This season, Hart has a 9-15-5 overall record with a 2.88 goals-against average.
The Flyers have dropped their last seven road games, dating back to Dec. 30.

In the month of February, the Red Wings celebrate the history of Black players who have donned the Winged Wheel through an interactive exhibit at Little Caesars Arena, where their achievements and impact are commemorated.
Fans are encouraged to visit the Black Hockey History Exhibit located outside the MotorCity Casino Club near PORTAL 8 on the main Via concourse when attending Red Wings home games this month.
