FantasyTeamRanks

NHL.com has updated the fantasy hockey team power rankings based on the latest top 200, with added emphasis put on top 100 players. Other factors taken into account include rank of goalie(s) and power play, lineup and injury trends and overall upside and team security for standard leagues.
Fantasy owners should use these rankings as a basis for team evaluation, add/drop decisions and trade proposals. For more fantasy coverage, visit NHL.com/Fantasy.

TRENDING UP

New York Islanders -- Forward Jordan Eberle (C/RW, 24 percent owned) has 10 points (five goals, five assists), four on the power play, in his past 11 games skating mostly on the top line with left wing Anders Lee and center Brock Nelson. Eberle has become a must-own forward in standard leagues with exposure to elite center Mathew Barzal on the top power-play unit. Lee has 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) and is plus-12 in the past 16 games and has nearly reached his assist total from last season (22) with 19 through 46 games.
Defenseman Nick Leddy has joined NHL.com's top 200, one of eight Islanders on the list, with eight assists, four on the power play, over his past 10 games. Goalie Robin Lehner has been dominant over his past 11 games, going 10-1-0 with a .950 save percentage and one shutout.
Carolina Hurricanes -- Wing Nino Niederreiter (LW/RW, 24 percent owned) was acquired by the Hurricanes on Thursday and has renewed upside in season-long leagues with potential exposure to forwards Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen and/or Andrei Svechnikov. Niederreiter has 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 46 games this season but three points (two goals, one assist) over his past three games and could build on that recent success with his new team.
Right wing Justin Williams (16 percent owned) has six goals, three on the power play, in the past eight games and could potentially skate with Niederreiter at even strength. Defenseman Jaccob Slavin (5 percent owned) has joined the fantasy top 50 at his position and is worth streaming in deep leagues with five points (two goals, three assists) in his past seven games. If the Hurricanes get consistent goaltending from either Petr Mrazek or Curtis McElhinney, they'll have an even higher ceiling.

TRENDING DOWN

Toronto Maple Leafs -- Elite center Auston Matthews has no goals, three assists and is minus-6 in his past five games. Forward Patrick Marleau had one goal and one assist against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday but has dropped out of NHL.com's top 200 because those are his only points over the past 10 games. Despite the recent dip in production, the Maple Leafs remain one of the deepest fantasy teams and should eventually regain form with goalie Frederik Andersen back from a groin injury. Forward William Nylander has three points (one goal, two assists) in 18 games but is now skating with Matthews and Zach Hyman, a combination that has been successful in the past, giving Nylander buy-low fantasy trade appeal.
Florida Panthers -- Left wing Jonathan Huberdeau has 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in his past 16 games but is minus-17 over the span. Center Aleksander Barkov has 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in his past 19 games but is minus-14 over the span. Defenseman Keith Yandle has no goals, four assists and is minus-8 in his past nine games, falling outside the top 100 overall rankings.
Center Vincent Trocheck has returned to the lineup after being out since Nov. 19 with a broken ankle. Trocheck (54 percent owned) should provide a much-needed spark to the Panthers upon his return, and fantasy owners should add him if he's available, especially in leagues that count hits. Goalie Roberto Luongo is 0-5-0 with an .851 SV% over his past six games but could turn it around if Trocheck helps improve Florida's two-way play.
