Pittsburgh Penguins:Wing Bryan Rust has eight goals and 25 shots on goal in the past six games entering Saturday skating on the top line with elite center Sidney Crosby and left wing Jake Guentzel. Rust is worth adding in standard leagues and a value play in FanDuel DFS contests. Goalie Matt Murray has won his past two games with a .945 save percentage over the span and remains a buy-low trade target (.890 SV% this season).
Backup Casey DeSmith continues to see playing time and is 8-3-1 with a .928 SV% in his past 12 games. The top line of Rust, Crosby and Guentzel has combined for 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) in the past five games, but the Penguins could climb further in the ranks if center Evgeni Malkin (four points, minus-3 in the past five games) and right wing Phil Kessel (three points, minus-2 over the same span) return to their elite production levels.
Philadelphia Flyers:Goalie Carter Hart went 2-0-0 with a .944 SV% in his first two NHL starts, and the Flyers have looked rejuvenated under new coach Scott Gordon. While it's a small sample size, Hart could feasibly capture the No. 1 job with goalies Brian Elliott and Anthony Stolarz out with lower-body injuries. Forward Claude Giroux, who has 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) and 49 SOG over the past 14 games, has maintained his top 30 fantasy rank despite the Flyers' inconsistency. Center Sean Couturier, who's now playing on a separate line from Giroux, has 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) in the past 20 games after starting the season with three points in the first 11 games. If the Flyers maintain their recent goaltending and improve their power play (12.1 percent; worst in NHL), they'll continue to gain fantasy relevance. UPDATE: Hart allowed four goals on 19 shots faced in a 4-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.
