Maroon final NHL game ovation

Patrick Maroon received an emotional sendoff from the NHL on Saturday.

The Chicago Blackhawks forward walked into United Center with his 16-year-old son, Anthony, during player arrivals before his last career NHL game.

Anthony sported his dad’s No. 77 Blackhawks jersey as he walked alongside the veteran forward.

Prior to puck drop against the Winnipeg Jets, Maroon received a loud standing ovation from fans in the stands after a special tribute video aired.

Maroon teared up as he saluted the crowd. Both Jets and Blackhawks players tapped their sticks on the ice.

The veteran forward’s father, Phil, was shown getting emotional in the stands as he clapped for his son.

In March, Maroon announced his retirement from the NHL after 14 seasons before he played his final game in his hometown of St. Louis. Blues fans also gave him a standing ovation during that game.

Maroon helped the Blues to their first ever Stanley Cup title in 2019. He won two more championships with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021.
