Teams schedule release videos split

Hopefully you’re not too cool for school, because Dougie Hamilton sure isn’t.

The New Jersey Devils defenseman starred in the team’s schedule release video, which came out on Tuesday, as a geography professor in charge of teaching fans where each of the opponents’ teams are from.

Hamilton dressed up in the perfect teacher costume (thick glasses and fake mustache included) as he gave a fun fact about each of the teams the Devils will be playing this season.

Devils forward Curtis Lazar made a cameo in the hilarious video and acted as the script writer for the video. So when Hamilton revealed that the Devils were playing Lazar’s former team in the Vancouver Canucks, Lazar had to add some color to the script.

“How can we not want to win this game for that guy?” Hamilton said in the video. “[Lazar] is just a really genuine person. He is really the nicest, funniest guy on the team. Also, he’s very humble and handsome.

“Did you write this?” Hamilton said, pointing to Lazar who gave the thumbs up.

Other teams around the League got creative with their schedule release videos as well, including the Calgary Flames, who’s video featured Mikael Backlund’s young daughter, Tillie, and her friends.

They were tasked with guessing which logo matched which of the Flames opponents this season, and the answers were spot on with what you’d expect from that crowd.

The Boston Bruins brought in New England Patriots center David Andrews to help out with their schedule release video, along with forward Brad Marchand, goalie Jeremy Swayman and defenseman Charlie McAvoy.

The Montreal Canadiens might’ve set the record for the fastest schedule release with the help of F1 driver Valtteri Bottas, who is a big hockey fan.

The Pittsburgh Penguins brought back former forward Jeff Carter, who retired after last season, to help out with releasing the schedule. He was using the riding lawnmower that he got from Sidney Crosby as his retirement gift.

No time like the present to start preparing for the upcoming season.
