A look at the game “by the numbers.”
- While the Kraken ceded the shot volume battle to the Oilers with 43-percent of all shot attempts in 5-on-5 play, they did generate more quality overall creating a 54.3-percent advantage.
- Kaapo Kakko (2-0—2) improved his totals with the Kraken to 9-16—25 (38 GP). Kakko is tied for the most points among players acquired by a team in-season in 2024-25, along with Cam Fowler (7-18—25 in 40 GP w/ STL).
- Tonight was Kakko's second multigoal performance in a Kraken sweater. He had zero multigoal performances in the last 2-plus seasons with the Rangers (last was in 2021-22). He has never had a hat trick.
- In addition to what showed up on the scoreboard, Kakko led his team in shot quality; was second by only three seconds in terms of offensive zone possession time; had two shots from the slot; and a game-leading three scoring chances off the rush.
- Jani Nyman (0-2—2), who assisted on both of Kakko’s goals, became the third Kraken player age 20 or younger to record a multi-assist game, joining Matty Beniers (7 times) and Shane Wright (Jan. 4, 2025).
- Nyman led his team and tied for the game-leading three slot shots.
- The line of Tye Kartye, John Hayden and Mikey Eyssimont did allow a goal against, but overall had a plus-9 shot attempt advantage and 92-percent of all shot quality while on the ice.
