WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets extended their point streak to five games (4-0-1) after defeating the Seattle Kraken 2-1 on Thursday night. The Jets improve to 4-1-2 on their homestand. They will play the eighth and final game of the homestand on Saturday against the Calgary Flames at Canada Life Centre.

The Jets played a patient style in a grinding contest with Seattle on Thursday and they are expecting more of the same tonight against the Flames.

“Absolutely. I mean they're a great team. They do a lot of great things and so do we,” said Nino Niederreiter.

“So that's something which, it's going to be a fun matchup, and you always want to win those games.”

Niederreiter will be playing with Rasmus Kupari and Cole Perfetti again tonight and the Swiss forward is enjoying getting to know his new linemates.

“It's been fun. I mean, obviously we still trying to get to know each other. And I mean, obviously with Kupari her has great speed, Fetts has some good patience, and I try to kind of get the pucks and forecheck and work myself in that way,” said Niederreiter.

“And I mean, there's a lot of talks going on the bench, and try to talk on the ice, but it's been working well the last couple games.”

The line combined for five points in the win over Vancouver on Tuesday and then played a solid defensive game in the 2-1 overtime victory with Seattle two nights later.

“Definitely got a lot of minutes which was a lot of fun. And like I said, I think we try to play the right way and play strong defensively to get the trust from the coaches that way and go from there,” said Niederreiter.

“And I felt that we had a couple really good momentum change (shifts) for our team as well. So, I think we did our job.”

The Flames lost in St. Louis in their last game, and this will be the final game of a four-game trip. This will be the third straight game where the Jets will face a team that is on the final contest of a long trip.

“Again, another team that we are seeing on their way back home and probably looking to finish off their trip on a good note,” said head coach Scott Arniel.

“But we have to make sure that our start to the game is better than it was the other night against Seattle. Hopefully we can get up and put some pressure on them.”

Arniel brought some good news this morning when he said that for the first time this season, all eight of his defencemen are healthy. That means Colin Miller and Haydn Fleury are available to play tonight, but Arniel would not reveal if one of both defencemen will be in the lineup this evening.

Eric Comrie will get the start in goal looking for his first win since November 11. The Jets goaltender played another outstanding game in his last appearance against the Kings on January 10, but Winnipeg lost 2-1 in overtime to the Kings.

“It just kind of falls into how we’ve been rotating here. Sometimes it depends on the schedule its kind of been every other night here. We’ve got this stretch of 15 days of every other night,” said Arniel.

“So, he’s going to get in. He played in Calgary (26 saves in a 5-3 Jets win), had a good game there. So, follow it up.”

The Jets have won eight of the past 10 games against Calgary at home (8-1-1), including holding the Flames to two or fewer goals in seven of those 10 games. Winnipeg’s penalty kill has been nearly perfect in the past seven games (21-for-22).
