The Islanders continue preseason action with a matchup against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

The Isles opened the preseason with a 4-2 win over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday night, but are expected to ice a relatively different lineup compared to the opening preseason matchup.

The Rangers are also coming off a win on Sunday, as they beat the Boston Bruins 3-2 at TD Garden. The Rangers have already begun making cuts to their training camp roster, trimming their group to 48 players.

Playing agianst an opponent, especially a crosstown rival, will be helpful for the Islanders to implement what they've been working on, even though it's only preseason action.

"I just want us to play the same way we played last game. We've been working hard on our fundamentals, and I want to stick to that," Head Coach Patrick Roy said. "It's going to be fun for us to play against a team like this. A lot of experienced, good players [will] give us a good idea where we're at."

Anthony Duclair, Bo Horvat and Mathew Barzal have been skating together in Training Camp and the line is expected to make its preseason debut on Tuesday night against the Rangers, which Roy is looking forward to seeing.

"I think it's just time [for them to] play games and see how comfortable they get," Roy said pregame on Tuesday. "I think it's up to each of them to feel each other and help each other on the ice. I'm pretty confident it's going to go well."

The trio have gelled in practice and scrimmage situations, but Tuesday night is a good opportunity for them to try to establish chemistry and build from there.

"It's exciting obviously, getting to play in an actual game," Horvat said. "To build some chemistry early, it might not happen right away but we'll have to keep working at it and getting better."
