Sept.30-1920v3

September 30, 2014 -The NHL Board of Governors ratified Scott Malkin and Jon Ledecky's purchase of an interest in the New York Islanders.
Malkin and Ledecky acquired a substantial minority interest in the team on Aug. 19, 2014, with Charles B. Wang holding majority control until July 1, 2016, when Malkin and Ledecky became majority owners. Wang, who for 18 years worked to keep the Islanders on the Island, passed away on Oct. 21, 2018, and his estate continues to own a minority share in the Islanders, as does Dewey Shay.

Since Sept. 30, 2014, the ownership group has made a significant impact on the franchise. The crown jewel of their tenure is
UBS Arena at Belmont Park
, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open for 2021-22, and will become the Islanders' state-of-the-art and future home.
Wang also acquired Twin Rinks Ice Center, transforming it into the Northwell Health Ice Center, which now hosts the team's training center, a top level NHL team campus.
The current ownership has overseen the return of games to Nassau Coliseum, the establishment of an Islanders alumni program and the hiring of President/GM Lou Lamoriello and Head Coach Barry Trotz.
On the ice, the Islanders have enjoyed their most success in nearly 30 years, reaching the Eastern Conference Final this past season. Since Malkin and Ledecky acquired a stake in the team, the Islanders have qualified for the playoffs in four-of-six years and have advanced to at least the second round three times.
