This Day in Isles History: Jan. 20

Jan. 20, 2018 -Ryan Pulock posts a five-point game (1G, 4A) at Chicago, becoming the first Islanders rookie defenseman in franchise history to do so. Pulock's five-point game was the first for an Islanders defenseman since Uwe Krupp posted an identical statline on March 20, 1993.
Pulock caught fire early in the contest, recording three points (1G, 2A) in the first period. The defenseman added a pair of assists over the final two periods to help lead the Islanders to a 7-3 win.

"It definitely feels good," Pulock said of the five-point night. "A couple of them was just getting pucks to the net, rebounds, one was pretty lucky with the dump-in, but sometimes when you're hot, they go in. It's definitely a good feeling."
Pulock has totaled 127-career points (33G, 94A) through 302 games with the Islanders. During the 2019-20 season, Pulock led the Isles in scoring among defensemen with his 35 points (10G, 25A) through 68-regular season games. Throughout the Isles' 2020 Eastern Conference Final run, Pulock was tied for first in the leaderboard in scoring among blueliners with his 10 points (2G, 8A) through 22 games.

In the Islanders' 2021 Stanley Cup Semifinal run, Pulock led the Islanders' blueline in goals with four, while he posted six points (4G, 2A) through 19 games. He came up with a pivotal goal-line save in Game 4 of the semis against the Tampa Bay Lightning to help the Islanders secure a 3-2 victory in their best-of-seven series.
