TSYPLAKOV DEBUTS:

Maxim Tsyplakov is making his unofficial North American debut on Sunday night, which is piquing the curiosity of Head Coach Patrick Roy.

"I like what I saw in those scrimmages so," Roy said. "I felt like he was handling the puck very well and making great decisions. He might be a little nervous his first game, so we're not going to make too much out of this one, but, I mean, I still want to see how he's going to play it out."

GETTING BACK UP TO SPEED:

Kyle Palmieri and Scott Mayfield also spoke with the media ahead of Sunday's game, suggesting they'll be in the lineup, and spoke of the importance of using preseason games to get back up to game speed.

"There are some new concepts that Patty's been working on with us for the first couple days, so just getting comfortable with that," Palmieri said. "And obviously special teams. We did a little work yesterday, but a lot of these preseason games kind of end up being a lot of penalties. So just making sure we're getting in the right frame of mind and getting back into the swing of things."

For Mayfield, it marks his first game action since he's gotten since Feb. 22, 2024, when he was shut down to deal with an ankle issue.

"I'm really excited... it's been a while," Mayfield said. "The scrimmage was a good step, but it's nice to actually get in a game."
