Now on the Tee, the Islanders 14th Annual Golf Outing

The New York Islanders were swinging the sticks on Monday - though not the ones you'd normally associate with them.
The Islanders took to the course at Glen Oaks Club for the 14th annual New York Islanders Golf Outing on Monday. Players, coaches, alumni and celebrities joined donors to the Islanders Children's Foundation for a round of golf to raise money for children in need.

"We love coming out and doing this," captain Anders Lee said. "It's a day on the golf course, that's pretty good. We get to meet and see a lot of people that have been very supportive of us and the Islanders Children's Foundation, and it's a nice time to hang with the guys and be outside a little bit."
The ICF supports the lives, health and wellness of children and families within the community and providing them with opportunities to overcome obstacles that may exist, as well as recognizing first responders and making the game of hockey more inclusive. The golf outing is one of the foundation's biggest fundraisers, raising over $545,000 on Monday.

With just days left before the start of training camp, the event serves as an unofficial season kickoff. Some Islanders, including Matt Martin, Scott Mayfield, Josh Bailey and Casey Cizikas, spent their full summer on the Island, but others returned in recent weeks.
"A lot of guys live here, and a lot of guys come early and spend a few weeks together before the season," Adam Pelech said. "It's always great to get back in touch with everyone after a long summer. It's nice to get a few weeks spending time with the guys, skating, working out together before the start of training."
While some Islanders spent a lot of time out on the course this summer, others did not consider themselves expert golfers. Kyle Palmieri said new addition Alexander Romanov told him this was his second time ever golfing.
The consensus pick for the team's best golfer? Cal Clutterbuck. The race for second place had a lot more contenders, but Clutterbuck said Brock Nelson is "far and away" the second-best golfer on the team. No plans for the Islanders version of The Match were announced.

The Glen Oaks Club in Old Westbury provided the perfect backdrop for a fun event. The players played a best ball scramble, and along the way, the teams competed in challenges, testing the longest drive, the shot closest to the pin, and took a try at a hole in one.
"Everyone hits the ball pretty far," Martin said. "We're just not the most accurate."
The golf portion of the event was followed by a banquet as well as silent and live auctions. The event in total raised over $545K for the Islanders Children's Foundation, marking another successful outing.
"We raise a lot of money, we get to interact with some fans and meet a bunch of people in the community so it's a really good thing," Mayfield said.
