"EMS has been my life’s work, a calling that I've embraced since the young age of 19. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to helping and saving countless lives, always striving to make a difference in the communities I serve. One of the most defining moments of my career was on 9/11. After finishing an overnight shift and returning home around 7 a.m., I looked out my window and witnessed the unimaginable as one of the planes struck the Twin Towers. Without hesitation, I got dressed and walked to the World Trade Center to offer my help. The experience shaped me as both a professional and a person, and I carry those memories with me to this day. My career has not been without challenges. I experienced a heart attack and spent weeks in the hospital recovering. During that time, I exhausted all of my sick and vacation leave, which led to significant financial difficulties. Despite these hardships, I remained committed to the work I love. Today, I am fortunate to serve with multiple EMS agencies across NYC and NJ as I work to rebuild and save for goals like purchasing a car and taking my wonderful family on a well-deserved vacation."
