HE PLAYED FOR PATRICK ROY IN JUNIOR

Duclair, 28, is already familiar with the coaching style of the Islanders bench boss. The newest Islander goes way back with Head Coach Patrick Roy, who coached him for two seasons on the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL.

Duclair recorded 116 points (51G, 65A) in 118 games under Roy from 2011-13. When Roy took off to Colorado to coach the Avalanche in his first NHL coaching stint, Duclair exploded offensively with a 99-point campaign, leading the Remparts in scoring and ranking third in the QMJHL in goals (50).
