Best Overtime Winners | THREE THINGS

Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton cut inside St. Louis' Robert Thomas and received a pass from Pavel Zacha. Hamilton cut to the net and roofed a shot over the shoulder of Blues goalie Ville Husso to give New Jersey a 3-2 overtime victory.
The Devils are now 5-1 in games decided during the overtime session, a remarkable success rate. It shouldn't be a surprise considering the Devils' talent. With that in mind, we decided to take a look back at the three best overtime goals from the season in today's edition of Three Things presented by Geico.

2. Captain in the Capital

Ironically, the next overtime goal to appear on the list came just two days later in the Devils' next contest. New Jersey traveled to the Nation's Capital in D.C. to go against Alex Ovechkin, yet another first-overall pick (2004), and the Metro Division Capitals.
The Devils built a 3-1 lead heading into the third period. The Capitals managed to score twice in the third frame, including the tying goal with just 3:47 left in regulation. But the Devils would come away with the victory, thanks to Hischier's second goal of the game.
Hughes, the previous game's hero, setup Hischier with a beautiful spin-o-rama pass in the offensive zone. The captain took care of the rest.

1. Stick Toss for the Ages

The signature goal of the season came in the opener against the Chicago Blackhawks. It was once again Hughes who would put on a show for the sold-out crowd at Prudential Center.
Hughes scored once earlier in the game to help New Jersey mount a 3-1 lead. But Chicago scored a pair in the third period, the second goal coming with just 26 seconds remaining in regulation, to force overtime.
Then Hughes put on the deke of the season to beat goalie Kevin Lankinen followed by the celebratory stick toss into the crowd as the team mobbed him on the ice.
