MONTREAL - When life gives you Canadian snacks, you eat them; even if you're American, even on the 4th of July.

That's exactly what Lane Hutson did and the results are something you donut want to miss.

Aside from taste-testing some red and white delicacies, the defenseman also touched on his historic freshman season at Boston University, his impressions of current Habs players and more in a live Q&A on Twitch.

Here are some highlights from the show:

Please note that questions and answers have been modified for clarity and conciseness.

Lane Hutson on David Reinbacher as a person and a player:

He's a really nice guy; great person, great kid. He means well. He's pretty reserved, but once you get to know him, he's a pretty funny guy. Then, on the ice, you see how he plays. He plays hard. He brings a physical presence. He's really good with his stick and he makes a really good first pass.

Hutson on the off-ice activities at development camp:

The off-ice activities are great. Getting to know guys that you don't know and then seeing guys from last year that you know, it's good to see them again. Then, obviously, watching tons of video with Adam Nicholas is huge for our development and treating our bodies right in the weight room as well. Everything off the ice is great and then [being] on the ice is just a lot of fun.

Hutson on which Habs player he looks up to the most:

I got to go with Cole Caufield. He came from the U.S. National Team and he's a super gifted goal scorer. [He's] someone I really enjoy watching and he seems like a really nice guy, too.

Hutson on the Canadiens young defensive core:

I obviously was watching them play and it's unfortunate with the amount of injuries they had this season. But, watching guys like Kaiden Guhle and Jordan Harris; the way they play, it's fun to watch. Then, Arber Xhekaj, he's always protecting guys that are skillful and I love it. He's really good at what he does and everyone else too is fun to watch.

Hutson on modeling his game after Adam Fox and Cale Makar:

From a guy like Adam Fox, I like the way he has poise with the puck. He's super smooth with it and he sees the ice really well. He's really good with looking one way and passing back the other way, so that's something I try to take from him. Then, a guy like Cale Makar, you see the way he explodes off the line with the puck. What he does and the way he moves is pretty special.. Obviously, defensively, the way they defend, they make it look so easy. That's something that I'm trying to work on and I'm going to continue to work on.
