MONTREAL – Every March in Montreal, four–leaf clovers are typically synonymous with good luck. But for Habs fan Michelle Dube, it was instead a four-legged lucky charm who won her a memorable night at the Bell Centre: Jarod the pug.

While it wasn’t the longtime fan’s first time seeing her favorite team live, it was her first time doing so with her dog, in a suite, and with all her closest friends.

On March 30, Dube, her pug Jarod, and 11 of their guests were invited to a suite at the Bell Centre for the game against the Carolina Hurricanes, food and service included—not to mention a gift bag for the evening’s furriest fan (sorry, Youppi!). It was all made possible by Vet et Nous, the presenting sponsor of the Canine Hockey Club, the new Montreal Canadiens dog club that debuted during the 2023-24 season.

The Saint-Hyacinthe resident saw the contest for dog owners to win a suite for a game on Canadiens social media accounts, as well as on the team’s mobile app, and thought “you never know” as she registered her pup.

Proof that sometimes things can be manifested just by throwing them out into the universe, a couple days later Dube received a call letting her know she and Jarod had won.

“I couldn’t believe it. [...] It’s funny, because I was just telling my partner the week before, ‘wouldn’t it be cool to win?’”

Over the course of the evening, the lucky suite holders were shown on the central scoreboard to the other 21,000 fans in attendance, with Jarod stealing the show during a TV timeout as he was held up The Lion King style to the crowd’s delight.

Dube’s pup was just as popular postgame, too.

“As we were leaving the Bell Centre, people were stopping us to ask, ‘is that Jarod the pug? Can we take a pic with him?’ He was very popular. We were proud of our little guy.”

Needless to say, it was a doggone good night for the pair.

“Just being there, in a suite, with my dog—it was magic. Everyone loved it. It’s one of the best memories of my life.”
