Our Adaptive Hockey discipline provides hockey opportunities for athletes with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities, enabling them to play the game, learn sportsmanship and teamwork, and build friendships and community. Our programs are staffed by experienced coaches and supported by volunteers who offer peer-to-peer encouragement and support to our athletes.
The premise of the game is exactly the same as ice hockey with a few equipment modifications. Instead of skating on two legs, the player sits in a seat mounted onto a tubular frame with two skates blades mounted directly underneath the seat. To propel us on the ice, we use two modified hockey sticks with metal picks on the bottom to push us across the ice. We are always looking to introduce new people to the sport and our team.
