Sabres team up with Bald for Bucks, Roswell Park for month-long campaign

The Buffalo Sabres are once again partnering with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and their Bald for Bucks initiative throughout the month of March to raise funds for critical cancer research and patient-care programs.

As part of the effort, the Sabres and Roswell Park have released a limited-edition Bald for Bucks T-shirt. Donors who contribute $50 or more will receive the T-shirt.
Sabres forward Jeff Skinner, studio analyst Martin Biron and play-by-play announcer Dan Dunleavy will be shaving their heads as part of the campaign.
Skinner will also donate $53 for every donation of $50 or more to the Sabres' Bald For Bucks program, up to $53,000.

"The Buffalo Sabres' support continues to make an incredible difference in the cutting-edge cancer research and patient care happening at Roswell Park every day," Roswell Park President and CEO Candace S. Johnson, PhD, said. "Through Bald for Bucks, our patients are reminded that they are not in this fight alone and I am grateful to the Buffalo Sabres and the greater Western New York community for standing with us in our important mission to end cancer."

For the Sabres' home game against the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday, March 30, Biron and Dunleavy will have their heads shaved live on the air during the broadcast on MSG.
"The last couple of years have been hard for everyone, but for those in the battle against cancer, it has been so very challenging," Biron said. "So as things slowly return to normal for most of us, let's keep working together with Bald For Bucks to continue our support for all of those in the fight. Let's raise lots of money, continue to meet amazing people in the process, and I can't wait to shave my head later this month!"
Dunleavy's wife Brenda is currently being treated for colon cancer at Roswell and has seen his sister, mother and father all battle with cancer.
"As the only one in our family not yet diagnosed with cancer, I am charged with leading the fight," Dunleavy said. "I'm goin' Bald for Bucks again to help in the fight against cancer and to help those working to save my wife Brenda's life through ongoing treatments at Roswell Park."
Donations can be made online at Sabres.com/BaldForBucks. All money raised stays in Western New York, with the goal of accelerating promising research projects and supporting programs that assist patients during their cancer journey.

About Bald for Bucks
Bald for Bucks began in 2002 when Western New Yorker Cathleen George was being treated for cancer. Her brother, Tony, promised his sister that he would shave his head with her and remain bald until her hair grew back. Tony, a teacher at Lake Shore High School, brought this idea to his students and many offered to help. One student suggested they raise money and then do the shaving, and a fundraiser was born.
