Messier, Brady, King womens gold medal game

A few sports legends were in the house for the women’s gold medal game of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.

Mark Messier, Tom Brady and Billie Jean King watched Team USA defeat Team Canada 2-1 in overtime at Santagiulia Arena in Milan on Thursday.

The Hockey Hall of Famer, seven-time Super Bowl Champion and Tennis Hall of Famer posed for a picture together.

With just over two minutes left in the third period, U.S. captain Hilary Knight tied the game 1-1 to send it to overtime. Defender Megan Keller scored the overtime winner on a backhanded shot at 4:07 to clinch the USA’s third Olympic gold medal.

Brady posted a picture of his sons holding up the “W” in front of the scoreboard and a video of the women’s team celebrating their victory on the ice to his Instagram story.

King shared photos with the gold medal winners on the ice after the game.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer shared a video of herself celebrating in the stands and gave a special shoutout to Michigan natives Keller and Kristen Simms.

The Empire State Building lit up in red, white and blue to celebrate the team's achievement.

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Larry Nance Jr. made a special video congratulating the women’s team and Cleveland native, Laila Edwards, on their gold medal.

The United States women's team last won a gold medal at the 2018 PyeongChang Games where they defeated Canada 3-2 in a shootout.
