Throw out the Xs and Os and join Short Shifts for our own weekly power rankings. What is our criteria? Whatever makes us smile, laugh, cry or any other wholesome feeling. This list is updated every Friday with our top moments of the week.

1. Gabriel Landeskog and his kids

Gabriel Landeskog had the cutest interview crasher this week. During an interview with NHL Network, the Colorado Avalanche captain thought his daughter, Linnea, was coming to say hi but she had something else to tell her dad. “Lukey wants to go in the pool,” Linnea informed her dad which made the NHL Network hosts laugh. Landeskog then told his kids to wait outside and asked if they were recording. The hosts informed him, they were live. “Any parent out there can relate,” Landeskog said.

2. Penguins Viking helmets

The Pittsburgh Penguins were feeling festive in Sweden this week. The team is in Stockholm for the 2025 NHL Global Series, so they had the winner and loser of their shootout contest during practice wear a Viking helmet. Rookie forward Ben Kindle finished first and sported a helmet with blonde braids hanging from it. Veteran forward Kevin Hayes finished last and had to wear a blue and yellow Viking helmet on the ice.

3. Brad Marchand and young Panthers fan

Brad Marchand shared a special moment with a young fan after warmups on Thursday. The Florida Panthers stopped to shake the hand of a young girl sitting behind the bench as he got off the ice. The adorable Panthers fan then gifted him a foam puck and had a chat with the veteran forward. Marchand gave her a fist bump before heading into the locker room.

4. Anze Kopitar and his kids

Anze Kopitar’s kids joined him for his last game at Bell Centre against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. Neza and Jakob held up a homemade sign that said, “Let’s go Kopi,” on the Los Angeles Kings bench during warmups. Their dad came over to say hello and take a family picture. Jakob even helped the social media team by snapping pictures of his dad’s teammates warming up.

5. Florida Panthers equipment manager

The Florida Panthers equipment manager made history in a unique way. Dakota King set the Guiness World Record for most hockey jerseys worn at once when he put on 40 hockey jerseys during his day with the Stanley Cup in August. His official certification arrived this week.
