James Hagens was happy to meet the man that drafted him.

The Boston Bruins prospect met Adam Sandler at the “Happy Gilmore 2” premiere in New York City on Monday.

The Bruins posted a video of Hagens and the actor greeting each other on the red carpet. The two also posed for a picture together.

During the 2025 Upper Deck NHL Draft in June, Sandler dressed as his iconic character to announce Hagens as the No. 7 selection by the Bruins.

The 18-year-old forward revealed “Happy Gilmore” as his favorite movie and called Sandler announcing his name “special” in an interview during the draft.

Luckily for Hagens, he got a front row seat to see the long-awaited sequel to his favorite movie.

“Happy Gilmore 2” is set to be released on Netflix this Friday.
