Blue Jackets Ohio State

All that was missing from the Columbus Blue Jackets entrance on Monday night was the Buckeye Battle Cry.

The Blue Jackets entered UBS Arena, where they were set to take on the New York Islanders, wearing red Ohio State jerseys in support of the Buckeyes, who ended up defeating Notre Dame in the NCAA Football National Championship game 34-23 on Monday night.

The Blue Jackets are especially behind Ohio State this year, since they will be the university's tenants for a day in a few weeks. They even spelled out "OHIO" on their way into the game Monday as many Buckeyes fans and the team's well-known marching band.

The Buckeyes famed football stadium, "The Horseshoe" as it is widely known, is the site of the 2025 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series where the Blue Jackets will play their first outdoor game hosting the Detroit Red Wings on March 1.

The title is Ohio State first NCAA championship since 2014.
