Fantilli mom throws hat

Adam Fantilli gave his family a night to remember on Wednesday.

The Columbus Blue Jackets forward scored his first NHL hat trick in front of his friends and family at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

Fantilli’s mom, Julia, was the first to toss her hat on the ice after her son notched the empty net goal to secure the Blue Jackets 5-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In a video captured by Sportsnet, the Blue Jackets star’s mother pumped her arms in the air after tossing the cap and celebrated with his dad, Giuliano, and his brother, Luca.

During the morning skate, Fantilli told reporters he had around 70+ family and friends attending the game. He grew up 30 miles north of Toronto in Nobleton, Ontario.

"It's so much more special when you get to play in front of that many people you love," Fantilli said in a Sportsnet interview. "I'm really greatful for all the friends and family that came out tonight and I was happy I was able to give them something tonight. That was fun."

His guests all cheered for him when he greeted them in the stands after the game.

The Blue Jackets celebrated by giving the young forward a shaving cream face wash during his postgame interviews.

Talk about a hometown hero.
