Bunting cut it to 3-1 with a power-play goal at 5:49 of the third period when he tapped in a pass from Rust at the left post.
“They're top of the League for a reason,” Bunting said. “They play the right way. They play fast, and they make a lot of offensive plays to create chances. I thought we were in it for a lot of the night and we pushed back a lot. We could have given up there, but we didn't.”
Connor scored into an empty net with 1:11 remaining for the 4-1 final.
“They definitely came out a lot harder in the third,” Connor said. “Whether that was a message that the coach sent in between periods, I'm sure it was, whether it was the leadership group. They obviously came out and felt they needed to prove something, playing physical. Give them credit, they played hard there in the third.
“Whatever it was, I think for us to weather that storm and persevere and kind of get contributions from everybody up and down, it was a full team win."
