Kraken Unity Fund Recipient: Garfield Jazz Foundation
The Seattle Kraken are proud to honor Judge Richard Jones and other members of Richard’s family on behalf of Quincy Jones as our Hero of the Deep. A $32k will go to the Garfield Jazz Foundation at his alma mater Garfield High. The funds will support the expansion of a music program that focuses on BIPOC students and those furthest from educational justice. It will provide students with little or no prior music experience an accessible entry point into music education and ensure that they continue to have access to the full range of music education offerings, while fostering a more inclusive, diverse, and vibrant musical community at Garfield.
