5️⃣ Things To Know For Today's Game

  1. The Kings have a 1-1-1 record thus far on a season-long, seven-game homestand and they enter the middle game of that set today, as they host the Toronto Maple Leafs at Crypto.com Arena.
  2. The start will be a big focus for the Kings in today's game. In the first 13 games under Interim Head Coach D.J. Smith, the Kings were tied for the NHL lead with a +8 goal differential in the first period. Thus far on this homestand, the Kings are -4 in opening periods, including two multi-goal deficits through 20 minutes. Getting back on the front foot today, early, will be paramount against Toronto.
  3. Forward Adrian Kempe scored two goals on Thursday, as the Kings overturned a three-goal deficit to force the game into overtime. Kempe's second goal was his 30th of the season, as he reached that mark for the fourth time in the last five seasons. Kempe is one of 22 players around the NHL with 30 or more goals in four of the past five seasons.
  4. Forward Scott Laughton, who also scored on Thursday versus Nashville, will face his former team tonight for the first time since he was acquired via trade last month. Laughton played in 76 games with the Maple Leafs over the last two years, between regular season and playoffs and has four goals and six points in a third-line role since joining the Kings organization.
  5. The Kings are currently in a three-way tie for the final playoff berth in the Western Conference, sitting on 79 points, level with both the Sharks and the Predators. With those two teams playing tonight in San Jose, the Kings will need two points against Toronto in order to keep pace. With a win today, they would remain tied for the second wild card position.

Last Game's 👑 Lineup ⬇️

Players to Watch

Kings - Quinton Byfield: Byfield scored the overtime game-winning goal when these teams met in Toronto earlier this season, as a part of a multi-point performance in the victory. Byfield has nine points (5-4-9) over his last nine games played overall, leading the Kings in goals and points over that stretch.

Maple Leafs - John Tavares: Tavares led the Maple Leafs with two goals against the Kings when these two teams met back in November. Tavares has nine goals over his last nine games played against Los Angeles, one shy of the league lead over the last five seasons, and he leads his team with 29 goals this season.
