VEGAS (October 23, 2023) – The Vegas Golden Knights announced today, October 23, the unveiling of “LosVGK,” a brand created to celebrate and engage the team’s Spanish-speaking fanbase. The Golden Knights will utilize LosVGK to promote the growth of hockey in Clark County and throughout the Golden Knights television territory, strengthen alliances with the Spanish-speaking community, and communicate authentically with those fans in their language.
“The launch of the LosVGK brand is the next evolution in our ongoing efforts to authentically connect with Hispanic and Latino residents of the Las Vegas Valley and beyond,” said Chief Marketing Officer Eric Tosi. “With our existing Spanish-language social media channels, radio broadcast and Theme Knights, we are proud of the organization-wide initiatives to date and believe that our LosVGK program will advance our connections even further.”
While LosVGK initiatives will continue to evolve, it is being unveiled with several key components in place:
- A full-time staff member, Benjamin Thomas, a Vegas Born Mexican-American hired in the new role of Director, Latino Marketing and Outreach.
- An exclusive logo designed by Stephanie Suominen, a Golden Knights staff member of Colombian descent whose previous work includes player-worn VGK Hispanic Heritage Knight jerseys.
- A line of merchandise featuring the LosVGK logo on T-shirts, hoodies, hats, and more that is available at The Arsenal at City National Arena and The Livery at America First Center in Henderson.
- A LosVGK page on the team website, the first of what will be many bilingual pages on vegasgoldenknights.com.
“It is an honor to help share the Stanley Cup champions’ story with the Spanish-speaking community,” said Thomas. “As a native of Las Vegas I know how much the Golden Knights mean to the Las Vegas Valley, and that is no different in the homes where English is not the native language.”
The LosVGK brand will be highlighted leading up to the team’s Hispanic Heritage Knight, set for Nov. 2 against Winnipeg, but LosVGK will not be limited to one game or month – it will be a fixture with the Vegas Golden Knights, just as the Spanish-speaking community is a part of the city. LosVGK will host a ball hockey clinic the day after the Hispanic Heritage Knight game at the James Boys and Girls Club in North Las Vegas.
LosVGK is the latest step for an organization that has done significant outreach to the Spanish-speaking community since its inaugural season in 2017-18. Every home game the team has played – and every game, home and away, during the 2023 Stanley Cup championship run – has been broadcast in Spanish on Deportes Vegas 1460 AM. In addition, the team launched Spanish-language social media accounts on X (@losvgk) and Instagram (@losgoldenknights) in 2019.
