COLUMBUS – The Canadiens mounted a third-period but came up short in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on Monday.

Josh Anderson and Lane Hutson scored in the final frame to erase a 3-1 deficit, but overtime solved nothing and Columbus buried two in the shootout to end it.

Oliver Kapanen had the other Montreal marker.
