Providence

The first-place Providence Bruins (50-14-1-0) earned their 50th win of the season and became the first team in the league to reach the 100-point mark this season with a 3-2 victory over the Utica Comets at the Adirondack Bank Center on Wednesday. The P-Bruins fell 4-2 to the Springfield Thunderbirds on Sunday after earning a 6-4 win over the Bridgeport Islanders on Saturday. Providence’s magic number to clinch the Atlantic Division regular season title is four points with seven games remaining. The P-Bruins remain in first place in the AHL standings by two points.

James Hagens scored his first professional goal in Saturday’s 6-4 win over the Bridgeport Islanders. The forward hammered a one-timer from the bottom of the right circle that snuck inside the near post for a power play goal to extend the Providence lead to 5-2 in the final frame. Hagens also recorded a primary assist in the 4-2 loss to Springfield on Sunday. The Hauppauge, New York, native was originally selected by Boston in the first round (7th overall) of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

Michael Callahan posted two assists in Providence’s 3-2 shootout victory in Utica. The defenseman fired a wrist shot from the point that was tipped into the back of the net by John Farinacci, before sliding the puck across the point to Billy Sweezey, whose wrist shot was redirected into the net by Matej Blumel. This was Callahan’s second multi-point game of the season. The Franklin, Massachusetts, native totals two goals and 13 assists through 50 games this season.

Riley Tufte netted a hat-trick and added an assist in Providence’s 6-4 victory over Bridgeport on Saturday. The forward netted back-to-back goals in the middle frame to extend the P-Bruins’ lead to 4-2, before recording the primary assist on Hagens’ first professional goal in the third period and adding his third goal of the game with 5:16 to play. Tufte also netted a goal in the second round of the shootout during Wednesday’s 3-2 shootout victory in Utica. The Coon Rapids, Minnesota, native leads Providence with 31 goals this season and is tied for the team lead with 53 points, both career-best numbers.

NCAA

Will Zellers will take the ice at the Frozen Four for No. 2 ranked North Dakota when they face-off with No. 12 ranked Wisconsin on Thursday, April 9 at 5:00 p.m. EST at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The forward totaled four points in the first two games of the NCAA Tournament, posting two assists in each win over Merrimack and Quinnipiac. Zellers ranks second on the team with 18 goals and tied for third on the team with 34 points through 37 games this season. Zellers was originally selected by Colorado in the third round (76th overall) of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and was acquired via trade along with Casey Mittelstadt and a second round pick in the 2025 draft (Liam Pettersson) for Charlie Coyle and a fifth round pick in 2026.

Juniors

Cooper Simpson recorded a goal and an assist for the Youngstown Phantoms in last Friday’s 6-2 victory over the U.S. National Development Team Program. The forward scored the game’s opening goal just 1:35 into the first period, before notching the lone assist on the goal that extended the Phantoms’ lead to 5-2 in the third period. Simpson ranks second in the USHL with 74 points, tied for third in goals with 34, and tied for fourth in assists with 40. The Shakopee, Minnesota, native was originally selected by Boston in the 3rd round (79th overall) of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

Europe

Kirill Yemelyanov totaled 32 goals and 25 assists for 57 points through 55 Russian Junior Hockey League games this season. The forward posted 16 multi-point games this season, including a hat-trick on November 4. The Irkutsk, Russia, native was originally selected by Boston in the sixth round (5th overall) of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
